In 2026, HSP will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Fifty years serving the most vulnerable. Fifty years of determination to uphold human dignity. Fifty years of dedication in places where extreme poverty seems to have erased all hope.
For five decades, thousands of children, adults, and families have found their place in society again. For fifty years, HSP has worked every single day to build a better future.
To mark its 50th anniversary, HSP is evolving its name to continue expanding the mission that inspired its creation.
In 1976, Father Laborde’s work inspired many partners, who later helped expand initiatives across West Bengal. By reaching the tea gardens of Jalpaiguri and supporting children affected by leprosy in Asansol, HSP has continued to grow, reaching out to care for the poorest. This commitment is what we want to highlight today.
Our commitment to serving the most vulnerable is stronger than ever.
As Howrah Service to the Poor, we aim to become a true stronghold—a pillar and a source of strength for the poorest of the poor. Our mission to uphold human dignity has always been, and will continue to be, the guiding flame behind everything we do.
Since 1976, HSP has relied on people like you to stand with the poorest. In your city, your parish, your workplace—become an ambassador and help others discover HSP. Explore all the ways you can support us today.
