Helping the most deprived

in India

Make a difference

Your support helps change the future of thousands of children through our local initiatives:

An Indian solidarity NGO committed to the most vulnerable since 1976

In the harsh reality of poverty in India, particularly in Kolkata and its surrounding areas, HSP devotes its skills, dedication, and spirit to supporting children, families, women, and people who are ill or disabled. Homes, schools, healthcare, rehabilitation: we work to promote the dignity of the most vulnerable so they can regain their rightful place in society. Today, HSP directly impacts the lives of more than 2,000 families.

After living for nine years in a slum in Kolkata, Father François Laborde of the Prado founded the Howrah South Point (HSP) association in 1976. Since then, it has worked tirelessly to promote human dignity by helping the poorest and people living with disabilities. Seven years ago, Father Laurent Bissara from the Missions Étrangères took over, continuing and renewing the association’s mission with commitment.

Today, HSP continues to expand its scope of action in Bengal and now includes 9 shelters and 11 schools across Howrah, Jalpaiguri, Asansol, and Kolkata.
